Lunch Time Bites: 14 June

And it’s back.

From Brazil to Russia, the tournament kicks off as the hosts face against Saudi Arabia – the two worst-ranked sides in the world. A classic isn’t guaranteed, but the opener will show how Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium looks and sounds. It’s the venue for the final and offers a glimpse of the kind of tournament Russia may host, which is critically important.

As for the Football, both nations are lacking in the form department. Russia haven’t won in seven games and the Saudis have lost three in a row. Still, Aleksandr Golovin is a nifty, industrious forward and easily Russia’s star turn. While Fahad Al Muwallad has morphed into a Saudi cult hero through his intoxicating wing play.

There’s little to choose between the two struggling nations, but home advantage should be enough for the hosts to prevail. From Russia, we need a little love to get the tournament up and running.
