PLANNING A TRIP TO THE KALLANG FOR AN EVENT?

To avoid possible traffic congestion & delays in carpark entry, opt to travel by public bus or MRT. We recommend bringing a small collapsible umbrella or poncho due to rainy weather. As huge crowds are expected at major events, do arrive early — around 60 to 90 minutes before event time.

BUDO-Japanese Martial Arts- demonstration/workshop in SG

On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Singapore in 2025, a Japanese Budo Delegation comprising both modern and classical Budo will be dispatched to Singapore. The delegation will present a Budo Demonstration showcasing the essence of Japanese Budo, and will also conduct a Budo Culture Seminar, Budo Experience Sessions, and Exchange Training with local practitioners.

Through these activities, the project aims to promote greater international understanding and dissemination of Budo, while at the same time contributing to the enhancement of friendship and goodwill between Japan and the Republic of Singapore.

The dispatch project of the Japanese Budo Delegation was first implemented in 1978 as the Japanese Budo European Delegation, and since 1985 it has been held almost every year in various parts of the world. In particular, since 2008 the project has taken its current form as an independent initiative of the Nippon Budokan and the Japanese Budo Council, and with this year’s dispatch, the total number of countries reached will be fourteen.

Each delegation typically consists of around 70 members, representing nine modern Budo disciplines and three classical Budo schools. All members are distinguished instructors and practitioners, recommended by the central organizations of their respective martial arts.

At the “Budo Demonstration,” audiences not only witness the refined techniques of Japanese Budo but also have opportunities for hands-on experiences. Depending on the scale of the venue, the event attracts between 2,000 and 5,000 spectators, filling the halls to capacity and demonstrating the strong interest in Japan’s traditional culture of Budo beyond its borders.

This year, in anticipation of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Singapore and Japan in 2026, a Japanese Budo Delegation will be dispatched to Singapore to further promote friendship and goodwill between the two nations.
