Australia and New Zealand win FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup 2026

Singapore, 5 April 2026 – The final day of the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup delivered multiple heart-stopping moments; top seeds were eliminated in the quarter-finals and a team from the qualifying draw rose through the ranks to take the silver medal. Over 8,000 spectators enjoyed this year’s FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup held at OCBC Square at The Kallang. The increased level of play and unexpected match-ups drew immense interest from the sold-out crowds and attracted even more spectators from within the precinct.

Australia (Women) and New Zealand (Men) completed dominant, unbeaten runs, capping a dramatic final day in Singapore to be crowned FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup 2026 winners.

Australia’s road to the women's title, their sixth, was far from straightforward. They needed a dramatic comeback in the semi-final, where Amy Atwell’s late heroics lifted them past China, 21-20, before taking full control in the final over Philippines, 18-9, to extend their dynasty in the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup.

Emma Clarke from the Australian team said: “That's five in a row now for us at the Asia Cup. We just needed to follow in the footsteps of the girls that have laid it for us. We are an amazing squad, and I feel like we just get better each and every session, every game and every camp. I'm so glad we can walk away with our heads real high and with a gold medal.”

New Zealand, meanwhile, dethroned men's defending champions Australia earlier in the day, with Te Tuhi Lewis catching fire from deep to lead a 21-16 semi-final win. They maintained that momentum in the final, controlling the Republic of Korea with disciplined offense and timely shot-making before icing the game, 21-15. He said: “I think last year we were still learning our system. And this year we came in with a lot more clarity, a lot more experience, a lot more games together. And that's what we saw out there. That was the difference between this year and last year, more cohesion and more alignment in what we were trying to do.”

Beyond the champions, the tournament marked historic breakthroughs.

The Philippines (Women) reached their first-ever FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup final. Led by Afril Bernardino and Kacey Dela Rosa, they showcased resilience and growth, ultimately securing a landmark silver medal -- their first podium finish in the competition.
Republic of Korea (men) also made history, advancing to their first FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup Final despite battling adversity, including playing the Semi-Finals with a shortened rotation. Their run to silver signals a major step forward for the programme.

China, meanwhile, capped a consistent campaign with bronze medals in both competitions.
