Singapore, 24 February 2026 – Thrilling basketball action returns to The Kallang as Singapore hosts back-to-back marquee 3x3 basketball events, FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup 2026 and for the first time, FIBA 3x3 World Cup Qualifier 2026. Singapore’s men’s and women’s teams, ranked 31st and 20th in the world respectively, will participate in both events, marking the nation’s first ever appearance at the FIBA 3x3 World Cup Qualifier.

Hosting the FIBA 3x3 World Cup 2026 Qualifier for the first time
As part of the FIBA 3x3 World Cup Qualifiers at OCBC Square at The Kallang on 11 and 12 April, twelve national teams (six men’s and six women’s) from Europe, South America, Africa and Asia will compete for the final six spots of the FIBA 3x3 World Cup 2026. As hosts of the Qualifiers, Singapore will participate in the FIBA 3x3 World Cup Qualifier for the first time in its history.

In an exciting format where every game counts, fans can expect top-notch basketball action as teams battle to qualify for the FIBA 3x3 World Cup, the pinnacle of 3x3 basketball. The FIBA 3x3 World Cup 2026 will be held in Warsaw, Poland, from 1 to 7 June. The pools for the FIBA 3x3 World Cup Qualifier 2026 will be announced at a later date.

Competitive game play expected at FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup 2026 qualifying draws
Singapore will also host the fan favourite FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup for the fifth consecutive year. As a staple in Singapore’s vibrant calendar of sporting events since 2022, the 2026 edition will feature 46 national teams from Asia and Oceania competing at OCBC Square at The Kallang from 1 to 5 April. Expect thrilling match-ups as defending champions Australia chase a sixth title in both the men’s and women’s categories. The FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup 2026 draw can be viewed here. The winners of the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup 2026 will qualify for the FIBA 3x3 World Cup 2027 which will be held in Singapore for the first time ever.

“We are incredibly excited to bring the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup to Singapore again, which has consistently provided a vibrant platform for elite competition and fan engagement," said Alex Sanchez, FIBA 3x3 Managing Director. "With so many top teams and passionate supporters coming together, this year's Asia Cup promises to be memorable. Singapore will host the World Cup Qualifier for the first time, and it should be quite the event. It will be a rare treat for the fans to watch many of the world's best teams vie for World Cup spots.”

The FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup 2026 will kick off with two days of Qualifying Draws. Fans can expect highly competitive game play as 14 men’s teams and 16 women’s teams will battle for the top four spots for each category, to qualify for their respective Main Draws. In the men’s Main Draw, defending champion, Australia will face regional favourite Philippines, in Pool D. The Filipino squad will be looking to bounce back after missing out on the Main Draw last year, following a loss to India in their final game in the qualifying round.

"The Asia Cup in Singapore was an extraordinary experience. Seeing the city and engaging in the culture, food, and unbelievable city sights made it a trip of a lifetime. The whole city came alive for the tournament. It was truly a spectacle. Being able to perform at our peak as the Australian team and put on a show in Singapore is something that took a lot of hard work and dedication behind the scenes. Winning the championship with Australia across our chest is something we will never forget," said Australia’s Dillon Stith.

In the women’s Main Draw, Pool B promises compelling action with Australia and China set to renew their rivalry. The two teams delivered a closely contested semi-final last year, with China ultimately settling for third place.

Singapore is drawn in the same pool as powerhouse, Japan, for both the men’s and women’s categories. The men’s team will be looking to build on their 2025 performance, where they booked a spot in the quarter-finals for the second time in tournament history, inspiring cheers from the home crowd.

"With the Asia Cup and our first World Cup Qualifiers around the corner, the excitement within the team is at an all-time high. Each time I’m called to represent Singapore, I’m reminded that pressure is a privilege. When I step onto the court, I am grateful for the opportunity to wear this flag. The team is leveraging the momentum from the recent SEA Games and qualification for Commonwealth Games as fuel to push our limits and compete at our best. Having both competitions in Singapore is unprecedented. We are eager to get back between the lines and fight for every possession in front of our fans,” said Singapore’s Nur Aufa Bin Emil Putra, captain of the men’s 3x3 team.

“We are proud to bring the local and international basketball community together at OCBC Square at The Kallang through hosting two consecutive world-class 3x3 basketball events. It will be a historic first for Singapore to host the FIBA 3x3 World Cup Qualifier, alongside our fourth consecutive year as organiser of the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup,” said Yazed Osman, Group Head, Events & Placemaking and Place Management, The Kallang Group. He added, “Over the years, through holistic programming that engages the community, we hope to nurture emerging talents and level up the capabilities of our local officials. We remain committed to bring the community even closer to the sport across two tournaments where every match counts, and are excited to continue championing basketball and deepening the affinity with the sport.”

About FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup 2026

The FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup 2026 is the ninth edition of the tournament, and it will be the fifth consecutive year that Singapore hosts the international event. In 2022, after a successful debut event hosted in the city-state, FIBA and Sport Singapore agreed a three-year partnership for Singapore to host the tournament (2023, 2024 and 2025). In 2025, it was announced that FIBA and Sport Singapore will host a series of international 3x3 basketball competitions in 2026 and 2027. The FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup 2026 is organised by The Kallang Group, supported by partners Sport Singapore and Basketball Association of Singapore. Exciting, urban and innovative, 3x3 is inspired by several forms of streetball played worldwide and is considered the world’s number one urban team sport.
