Singapore, 28 January 2019 – SportsHub Pte Ltd (“Singapore Sports Hub”) today announces that Mr Oon Jin Teik has informed the Board of his decision to leave his role as Chief Executive Officer, after the HSBC Singapore Rugby Sevens 2019 in mid-April.
Mr Bryn Jones, Chairman of Singapore Sports Hub since 2017, will assume the role of Acting Chief Executive Officer after Jin Teik’s departure, while the Board conducts a global search to find the best individual to lead the Singapore Sports Hub going forward.
Bryn Jones said: “The Board extends its heartfelt appreciation to Jin Teik for his strong leadership, passion and unwavering commitment to the project and wishes him the very best in his future endeavours. He will be greatly missed by the staff, Board members and partners of Singapore Sports Hub. The team remains fully focused on pursuing operational excellence at Singapore Sports Hub, executing a vibrant repertoire of events, and delivering great experiences for our clients, colleagues, partners and patrons. In addition, I shall continue to work with Sport Singapore on transformation initiatives aimed at realising our shared vision and ensuring Singapore Sports Hub retains its preeminent position as the region’s premier sports, entertainment and lifestyle destination in the years ahead”.
Oon Jin Teik said “I have been privileged to be involved with the Singapore Sports Hub for almost 20 years (since its conceptualisation phase). Coming from an international sports, global business, and Public-Private Partnership background, I have been very fortunate to have worked with so many talented and dedicated colleagues during the past four and a half years. They have given me full support throughout my tenure and together with Sports Hub’s internal and external partners, we have accomplished a lot. I am very proud of this national icon, the Singapore Sports Hub, and I wish the staff, Board and Management team the very best for the future.”
Having joined Singapore Sports Hub in May 2014 as the Chief Operating Officer, Jin Teik was promoted to Chief Executive Officer in 2017. During his tenure, Jin Teik played a critical role in Sports Hub’s early development through to its consistent growth and success, hosting iconic events such as the 28th Southeast Asian Games, 8th ASEAN Para Games, the Singapore National Day Parade 2016, FINA World Championships, HSBC Singapore Rugby Sevens, International Champions Cup, ONE Championship fights, Monster Jam, concerts by Coldplay, Madonna, BTS and many others. In 2018, Singapore Sports Hub broke records hosting over 210 events and welcomed more than 3,000,000 visitors to its vibrant ecosystem.

The Singapore Sports Hub, which is managed by SportsHub Pte Ltd, is one of the largest sporting Public Private Partnership (PPP) projects in the world. It is also Singapore's largest flagship PPP project of this nature and has won the Project Finance International (PFI) award in London in 2011, World Architecture Festival Awards for Best Future Project in the leisure-led development category in 2013 and Sports Building of the Year in 2014.
