HG SPORTS TURF COMPLETES CONTRACT AT SINGAPORE NATIONAL STADIUM

MEDIA ADVISORY

Singapore, March 5, 2018: On the 1st of February this year, HG Sports Turf (HGST), Australasia’s leading stadia pitch design, construct and maintenance company, and partner of the Singapore Sports Hub in turf supply and maintenance, completed their contract work for the Singapore National Stadium (NST).

Consistent with SportsHub Pte Ltd’s (SHPL) long-term plan to leverage global expertise and support the localization of its turf management, the Singaporean company, TEHC International Pte Ltd (TEHC) has commenced its new appointment with Singapore Sports Hub as the local pitch solutions provider.

During their three-year tenure, HGST’s “ready to play” turf system met the expectations and demands of a variety of events within the unique environment of NST. These included the Southeast Asian Games, Barclays Asia Trophy, International Champions Cup, Super Rugby, and HSBC Singapore Rugby Sevens.

To ensure a seamless transition from HGST to TEHC, HGST will offer consultation to TEHC. No stranger to the NST pitch ecosystem, TEHC has been a critical part of the early start-up teams involved in NST’s turf management alongside SHPL, understudying and participating in all areas of the supply chain. During HGST’s contract period, TEHC supported HGST with local resources at both the stadium and the turf nursery.

Additionally, in line with SHPL’s commitment to constantly review and improve the NST turf, a panel of renowned expert advisors will be formed to support TEHC and SHPL in ongoing research and developmental efforts on pitch management.

Hamish Sutherland, Managing Director of HG Sports Turf, commented, “We are extremely proud of our achievements over the tenue of our contract, and we support SHPL’s decision to localize the Singapore National Stadium turf supply and maintenance contract. We would like to thank SHPL, Sport Singapore and all our supply chain partners for their support during our tenure.”

Mark Channon, Chief Technical Officer, shared, “SportsHub Pte Ltd thanks Hamish and his team at HG Sports Turf for their past and ongoing contributions to our goal to deliver a world-class pitch for all our promoters, patrons, and athletes. We have every confidence in TEHC’s ability as our strategic partner for the next lap in supporting and ensuring that we stay on track in this important aspect of NST pitch management.”

Dick Toh, Managing Director of TEHC International Pte Ltd, said, “We are honoured to contribute to our own stadium, and look forward to work closely with Singapore Sports Hub to deliver on all aspects of the turf moving forward.”
