SINGAPORE SPORTS HUB TO PROVIDE TEMPORARY HOUSING OF FOREIGN WORKERS

Media Release

Singapore, 17 April 2020 – In support of national efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19, the Singapore Sports Hub has converted the OCBC Arena Halls to temporarily accommodate about 800 foreign workers (FWs) from Friday, 17 April 2020. This is in response to the government’s urgent need to house FWs who do not have symptoms to alternative living areas.

Strict protocols will be in place to manage the FWs’ entry and presence at all times. They will be required to remain within the arena halls, follow strict health and safety measures and practise safe distancing during their stay. The public’s access to the halls, including the Arena Park, will be restricted.

The well-being of the foreign workers is our utmost importance, Singapore Sports Hub will be working with partners to provide catered meals, medical support, sanitation and laundry facilities.

Singapore Sports Hub will continue to work closely with government agencies to ensure that the surrounding neighbourhood, our staff, and the FWs are safe
