Singapore, 11 March 2016 – Ahead of their Singapore debut this Saturday, the HITOCommunications Sunwolves shared trade secrets with the Singapore national rugby team in a two-hour training session at the Yio Chu Kang Stadium today. All the members of Team Singapore attended the joint training session with Sunwolves Head Coach, Mark Hammett, together with assistant coaches and player John Stewart. The session started with a tactical tutorial which ended in training drills on the field.
Captain of the Singapore national rugby team said: “Having the Super Rugby team here is a great opportunity and means a lot to us as we are exposed to top coaches and players. We really learnt a lot from them. It was a short but detailed session, with a lot to take back from.” said Gasper Tan, captain of the Singapore Men’s 15s team.
Sunwolves Head Coach, Mark Hammett, said: The first part of the training was about agility and skill, and before that we talked to the guys about what do you find good and what you find you have trouble with, and then introduced that into our training.”
One of the latest additions to Super Rugby, the HITO-Communications Sunwolves, are looking to kickstart their season when they face South Africa’s Toyota Cheetahs at their adopted home venue, the Singapore Sports Hub tomorrow.
About the upcoming match:
The HITO-Communications Sunwolves and Toyota Cheetahs will go head to head this Saturday at 6.50pm. The curtain raiser game between the Singapore Legends vs Asian Japanese Dragons will begin at 5pm. Tickets are available at www.sportshub.com.sg.
