Singapore, 4 July 2015 – After two days of the OCBC WaterFest 2015, an estimated 15,000 people turned up at the Singapore Sports Hub to soak in the fun and experience the festival’s offerings. Sports Hub’s water-themed flagship event, an event that showcased water-based sports, entertainment and spectator events, was attended today by Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Environment and Water Resources, who attended Sports Hub’s first ever OCBC WaterFest 2015.
Sports Hub Regatta is a gruelling canoe, kayak and dragon boat race held along the Kallang Basin. Other competitions held today include the beach volleyball and wave surfing competition, with the former being visited by Minister Vivian Balakrishnan during his event site tour.
“The Singapore Sports Hub was developed not only to attract world-class sporting events, but is also an integrated lifestyle hub for all Singaporeans and members of the public. As this inaugural OCBC WaterFest 2015 is the Hub’s water-themed flagship event, and first place-making initiative, the public can look forward to more exciting events at the Sports Hub in the months to come,” said Mr Philippe Collin-Delavaud, Chief Executive Officer, Singapore Sports Hub.
“The OCBC WaterFest 2015 is an event where Singaporeans can enjoy water sports on the Marina Reservoir which is located right in the heart of the city.
