When the members of K-pop boy band EXO fan club AERIARCADE came together to organise their very first fan event in April 2019, it was meant to be just a one-off activity to celebrate their love for the group.

Since then, the group has amassed over 3,000 followers on social media platform X.

“The intention was just to create one cup sleeve event. We didn’t know it would grow this far.”

Held in conjunction with the group’s seventh anniversary at a coffee chain at Centrepoint Mall, the members were pleasantly surprised by the turnout of fans who came to celebrate with them and collect the cup sleeves that they had designed.

“We were wondering if anyone was going to organise an anniversary event and if not, we would do one together,” a member of the fan group said. “When we came up with the idea, we weren’t expecting to have that big of a crowd. Both days of the event were very crowded. Seeing the turnout, we were like ‘oh my god, we actually did an event from scratch’, so it was very fulfilling for us.”

The team had crossed paths with one another just months before at another Christmas-themed cupsleeve event held in a cafe in Orchard Central before connecting with each other through social media.

Through X, the members realised they shared the same wish of organising their very own fan event, and soon a group chat was formed.

The success of the first event also provided motivation to continue as they went on to hold a wide range of fan events over the years, including online parties, movie screenings and even collaborations with the Korean Tourism Organisation.

“Right after the first event, one of the members said, ‘Can we stay friends and not end it here?’ We agreed, and soon, the group chat became a platform for us to share content about EXO and plan more events.”

With EXO set to return to the Singapore Indoor Stadium this July for EXO Planet #6 – EXhOrizon World Tour, AERIARCADE is back in full swing, preparing for their fourth concert fan event. They previously organised events in 2019 and 2023 for EXO-SC’s Fancon, as well as in 2025 for EXO Kai's solo concert, KAION.

With more than seven years of experience organising fan events, the team know that the work starts early, with one of the key challenges ensuring that they get the necessary approvals from the event promoters.

“Even though this is something that we do maybe for fun or as a hobby, this is almost like a full-time job for us because, first, it involves research. We have to see what's possible, what the fans may like, what EXO may like, so there's a lot of planning that goes into it even before we submit proposals. It goes all the way back to maybe four months before the whole thing.”

“Then, when we submit the proposal, the challenge is to wait for the approval because, during that period, it's very nerve-wracking for us, since we cannot order anything until there's a green light."

And through the years, the members also found themselves picking up a wide range of skills such as “graphic design, event planning and crowd management”.

They also learnt how to work within tight schedules and coordinate with stakeholders through rigorous planning for every event.

But these challenges have hardly deterred the passionate bunch.

“We want to give EXO and EXO-L a good experience when they are in Singapore. That’s what keeps us coming back for more. It’s also something we know we can pull off when we come together. It’s just our passion.”

“At the end of the concert when everybody's holding the banner, and then when I see the pictures on social media, that's when I feel like this is why we did it – to make a very nice event for everybody.”

Not only do the EXO members have a good time performing in Singapore, but these dedicated fan projects and events also allow EXO-Ls to enhance the group’s experience, making it even more memorable.

Beyond making an impact on EXO-Ls, AERIARCADE hosted donation drives to give back to communities in Singapore (2019)

“During one of our cupsleeve events, we had some Japanese fans that came by to give us some gifts. They didn’t know anybody in Singapore, but through our event they met other like-minded fans, and we could create a safe space for them.”

Besides creating precious moments for other EXO-Ls through their events, Aeriarcade also made some core memories of their own.

“One moment I still remember was during Kai’s solo concert, KAION. Someone actually approached us and said she was here from Germany to enjoy the concert. She thanked us for organising this and was also supporting the fundraiser, so that's why she came to find us.”

“When we receive words of encouragement online or even in person, it makes us feel so fulfilled in what we do.”

And that passion for creating fan experiences for other EXO-Ls like themselves is still well and truly alive among the AERIARCADE  members.

“I still love EXO, I still love doing events… I feel more connected to the fandom than ever, and I made so many friends through these events.”

As EXO returns to the Singapore Indoor Stadium this July, AERIARCADE is once again preparing to welcome fans with the same passion that first brought them together seven years ago.

For those heading to the concert, keep an eye out for the fan projects happening around the venue. Behind every banner, photo spot and gift are countless hours of planning by fans, for fans — all in the hope of making the experience a little more memorable.
