MEDIA ADVISORY
Singapore, 12 June 2017 – Due to the current licensing requirements for events, additional security measures have been implemented at the Singapore Sports Hub. These measures are expected to significantly increase the time taken to gain entry into events at the National Stadium and Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Despite more security personnel deployed for recent events, it has been observed that up to 75% of patrons arrive in the last 30 minutes before an event starts which resulted in many patrons clearing the security screening only after the event has commenced.
For the Singapore vs. Argentina friendly, the Singapore Sports Hub has deployed additional security personnel and gates will open at 6.30pm (1.5 hours before kick-off). However, as over 20,000 fans are expected for the game, the Singapore Sports Hub would like to advise patrons coming for the match on the following:
- Arrive at the National Stadium at least 1 hour before kick-off
- Bring only what is needed to facilitate security checks
There will be an ‘Express Lane’ for patrons without bags and as per the usual conditions of entry, bags exceeding 35cm x 20cm x 30cm and selfie sticks are not allowed into the National Stadium. The full conditions of entry for events at the National Stadium can be found here: http://www.sportshub.com.sg/Documents/Conditions-of-Entry/NST-COE.pdf.
The Singapore Sports Hub seeks the public’s understanding for the enhanced security measures, in the interest of everyone’s safety.
