CURTAIN RAISER TO SHOWCASE SINGAPORE’S BEST

22 March 2016, SINGAPORE – Two of Singapore’s top rugby teams take to the pitch at the National Stadium on 26 March 2016.

The President’s XV will face off against the World First Premiership Select in a curtain raiser preceding the 2016 Super Rugby match between our adopted home-side HITO-Communications Sunwolves and the Vodacom Bulls from South Africa.

Comprising current players from Singapore’s national training squad, and Singaporebased Club players respectively, the curtain raiser promises to be an exciting and inspiring one for local rugby.

“To be able to play against a professional team is definitely great exposure for me and the other, younger players. It’s a great learning experience for all of us and we hope more rugby fans will come and cheer us on,” said Gaspar Tan, Captain of the President’s XV and who has represented Singapore in various competitions since 2006. He is also currently the captain of Singapore’s Under-23 team.

World First Premiership Select captain Matthew Humphries commented, “It is a great honour to be playing the curtain raiser at the National Stadium. I never thought I’d ever play here and I am definitely looking forward to the match!”

About the upcoming match:

The HITO-Communications Sunwolves and Toyota Cheetahs will go head to head this Saturday at 6.50pm. The curtain raiser game between the Singapore Legends vs Asian Japanese Dragons will begin at 5pm. Tickets are available at www.sportshub.com.sg.
