  • Activities designed to capture the spirit of the Jubilee weekend, culminating in live screening of SG50 National Day Parade

Singapore, 8 August 2015 – The Singapore Sports Hub today launched the “Singapore Sports Hub SG50 Carnival” – a two-day carnival being held over the Jubilee Weekend on 8 and 9 August 2015. To celebrate Singapore’s golden jubilee, Dr Mohamad Maliki Bin Osman, Minister of State, Ministry of National Development & Ministry of Defence and Mayor, South East District, kick-started the Carnival as he toured the many activity booths at the OCBC Square.

An estimated 10,000 have already turned up at the Singapore Sports Hub to soak in the sun, sand and fun. This celebratory carnival featured various fun-filled activities for members of the public, including Sports Hubthemed games, traditional Kampong Games, and movie screening at the OCBC Square, free courts booking and gym usage at the OCBC Arena, children’s activities at the OCBC Aquatic Centre and free water sports tryouts at the Water Sports Centre. Visitors who come to the Hub were able to experience sports, lifestyle and entertainment – all in one destination (see Appendix A for full programme of events and schedule and Appendix B for SG50 Carnival Activity Map).

“SG50 is a unique moment in our nation’s history, and a time to celebrate all that is special in the Singapore
journey. Singapore Sports Hub is proud to be a part of the nation’s continuing journey as it supports the
Government’s Vision 2030 roadmap. We are also delighted to have been recently featured on the SG Heart Map
– a compilation of places that holds the most significance for Singaporeans today. An iconic venue, the Singapore Sports Hub is a representation of our collective vision and spirit of Singaporeans from all walks of life,” said Mr Oon Jin Teik, Chief Operating Officer, Singapore Sports Hub.
