Singapore, 10 March 2016 – With world-class rugby set to hit fever pitch with the season of international rugby kicking off this Saturday, 12 March, the Singapore Sports Hub today declared the facility ready for rugby buzz.
The first sporting match to be played at the National Stadium in 2016 will see the HITOCommunications Sunwolves make its Singapore home debut against the Toyota Cheetahs.
The HITO-Communications Sunwolves is the first Asian team in the newly-expanded Super Rugby league, and the Toyota Cheetahs is a South African rugby union team that entered the Super Rugby competition, in 2006.
The head to head game will also mark the first ever Super Rugby match at the Singapore Sports Hub, which will be followed by two more – on 26 March and 14 May – where HITO-Communications Sunwolves go up against Vodacom Bulls and DHL Stormers, respectively. In April, the Singapore Sports Hub welcomes the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series, which returns to Singapore and the National Stadium after 10 years.
Preceding the match on Saturday, 12 March, a special curtain raiser between the Singapore Legends and Asian Japanese Dragons, comprising former national and club rugby players from Singapore and Japan, respectively, will take place in celebration of all things rugby.
About the upcoming match:
The HITO-Communications Sunwolves and Toyota Cheetahs will go head to head this Saturday at 6.50pm. The curtain raiser game between the Singapore Legends vs Asian Japanese Dragons will begin at 5pm. Tickets are available at www.sportshub.com.sg.
