SPORTS HUB LAUNCHES TICKET SALES FOR SUPER RUGBY 2017

Singapore, 12 December 2016 – The Singapore Sports Hub today announced that tickets for the 2017 Super Rugby Season will go on sale on 13 December 2016, 10am. Members of the public can purchase category one tickets for all three matches at the price of two during the promotional period till 31 December 2016. There will also be a 15 percent discount for single match category one tickets purchased within the promotional period.

During the inaugural season of Super Rugby in Singapore this year, close to 30,000 spectators turned up at the National Stadium to support their home team – the HITO-Communications SUNWOLVES. Despite being one of the newcomers in the 2016 Super Rugby season, SUNWOLVES played three nail-biting matches at the Hub, with a draw and two narrow losses.

The SUNWOLVES, who will be playing three matches in Singapore have announced their team players for the 2017 season and their new jerseys (see Appendix A for SUNWOLVES squad and jersey).

SUNWOLVES Head Coach, Filo Tiatia said, “What is really exciting is that we have 21 players that have experienced Super Rugby, including SUNWOLVES players from the 2016 season such as Willem Britz who has played 23 caps in Super Rugby, Edward Quirk and Miyaki Mori who both had outstanding performance last year for SUNWOLVES. With these players, we are really excited to get started and become the Sunwolves for 2017.” Filo Tiatia is a two cap former All Black player who is well versed in Japanese Rugby and culture, having played and coached Toyota-Verblitz between 2002-2006. Tiatia was also the SUNWOLVES’s former head coach Mark Hammett’s assistant coach in charge of the forwards in their debut season.

In the upcoming 2017 Super Rugby matches, the SUNWOLVES will play a total of 15 matches, with three out of seven of their home matches at Singapore’s National Stadium – against the Kings (4 March 2017), the Stormers (25 March 2017) and the Sharks (20 May 2017).

Tickets are priced from $30 onwards and will be available from 13 December 2016, 10am via the Sports Hub Tix website www.sportshubtix.sg, hotline +65 3158 7888, Sports Hub Tix Box Office at Singapore Indoor Stadium and all SingPost outlets (see Appendix B for ticketing information).

Super Rugby is the Southern Hemisphere's pre-eminent rugby tournament, featuring 18 teams from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Argentina and Japan. SUNWOLVES is the first Asian team in the expanded Super Rugby league, and is co-based in both Japan and Singapore.

 SUNWOLVES 2017 Jersey

SUNWOLVES will transform its new jersey for the upcoming 2017 season. This new jersey is designed by Mr. Mizuno Manabu (CEO of good design company) who also designed "Kumamon", the main mascot of Kumamoto Prefecture.

The new red and white home jersey has the Sun representing its home country of Japan, and SUNWOVES is the only team joining the Super Rugby championship. The new home jersey also represents the team itself, who fights against world top class rugby clubs.

On the other, the new black and white alternate jersey has the Moon which always comes together with wolves. The new alternate jersey emphasizes the cooperative and agile nature of the wolves.
